During this month of October, La Divina Infantita toured the parishes of the municipality on the occasion of the centenary of the arrival of the image of the Immaculate Child at the church of San Isidro Labrador.

Last Friday, October 9, the carving of the Divine Infantite departed in procession from the church of San Isidro Labrador to the church of Santa María de la Paz. After her stay in the Loma de la Mezquita neighbourhood, the Virgin visited the parishes of Balerma, Guardias Viejas, Almerimar, Santo Domingo, Santa María del Águila, Pampanico, Las Norias de Daza, San Agustín and Matagorda.

The commemoration of the centenary of the arrival of the Immaculate Child in El Ejido has closed with a mass, officiated by Don Alexander Estupiñán, attended by councilors Manuel Martínez, María Herminia Padial and Javier Rodríguez.

Devotion to the Divine Infantite came to the municipality in 1926 from Father Federico Salvador Ramón, founder, together with Mother Rosario Arrevillaga, of the Congregation of the Slaves of the Immaculate Child. On October 31 of that year, the image was installed for the first time in the parish of San Isidro Labrador, giving rise to a devotion that, over time, has deeply rooted among the neighbors.

It should be remembered that Divina Infantita is the patron saint of the municipality, along with San Isidro Labrador, patron saint of the Local Police and honorary mayor of El Ejido.
